Welcome to Bedwyn History Society, we hope you will enjoy reading this short introduction and will be encourage to join us on a regular basis through our annual membership scheme (£15) or as an occasional visitor (£5 per meeting).
Our objectives are to collate and preserve any items of interest relating to Great Bedwyn and its surrounding areas and provide a programme of interesting speakers covering a wide variety of historical topics.
This 2025/2026 season consists of nine meetings; three editions of The Bedwyn Chronicles are planned.
The Society meets on the second Wednesday of the month in the village hall where its projection, audio and large screen enhance the speaker’s subjects. If you have a topic and an interest in presenting a talk of approximately 45 to 60 minutes please do contact us at bedwynhistory@hotmail.co.uk
The Society seeks to have an outing every summer, for instance members visited Lydiard House where a guide took two groups of members on the guided tour of the house. Members were also able to enter the church and view the interior which was under renovation at the time.
Annual membership of the society is open to all and includes your attendance to all the meetings and receipt of three copies of The Bedwyn Chronicles magazine. Our outings have a nominal charge dependent on location and are notified in advance.
